About Michelle

Michelle was a successful editor in one of New York City’s busiest newsrooms, but after having her two children, and two life-changing postpartum mood disorders, she decided the long days away from her family were no longer fulfilling. She then made room in her life for the gifts of yoga and realized her dharma (life’s calling) was to share those gifts as a postpartum doula. They include: a well-informed, sympathetic and patient sounding board; an energetically sensitive whole-family approach; and a graceful balance between lighthearted encouragement and the hard facts of parenthood, all of which form a unique foundation of support that families need and deserve.

Combining a certification from Postpartum Support International, a 200-hour yoga teacher certification with Yoga International, an upcoming postpartum doula certification from DONA International, and a continuing study of energy work, Michelle supports families in the “fourth trimester” (newborn through 12-weeks old) to ease the integration of a newborn. She specializes in moms with PMAD (perinatal mood and anxiety disorders), but enjoys helping any family during this period.

Michelle’s approach is to provide evidenced-based information and support on the full range of infant and family care issues. She actively listens to new parents and their concerns and supports and encourages them to make their own informed choices. Michelle enjoys working with families to enact customized, creative and joyful baby integration plans.

In addition to her doula work, Michelle teaches yoga, including meditation and breathwork, in nearby studios and virtually. She also sees clients in her home studio one-on-one or in small groups, and travels locally to teach in-home and private classes. Michelle is also a Level-2 reiki practitioner.
